Karima Lazaar is a PhD researcher in plant breeding and sustainable agriculture, specializing in the development of climate-resilient legume crops for arid and salt-affected environments.
Her research focuses on grass pea, integrating plant breeding, phenotyping, genomics, and physiology to identify and develop varieties with improved tolerance to salinity, drought, and
heat stress. She is committed to advancing biosaline agriculture and promoting underutilized crops as sustainable solutions for food and forage production. Through her work, she aims to enhance agricultural resilience, support smallholder farmers, and contribute to food and nutritional security in regions most vulnerable to climate change.
